What cookies are

You do not need to change any setting to read our comparison pages. The notes below explain what is stored, what it does, and where you can turn it off.

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognize your browser, remember preferences, and gather aggregate information about how pages are used.

Similar technologies, such as local storage, serve comparable functions: they can keep a filter selection in place while you browse, or help a page load faster on a return visit. When this policy refers to cookies, the same rules apply to those storage methods unless we say otherwise. Cookies are not programs — they cannot run code, open files, or read anything else stored on your device.

Most files we set are session cookies that clear when you close the browser. A smaller number persist for a set period so that a returning visitor is not asked the same question twice. You can see the full list of what we store, and how long each item lasts, in the table below.

Cookie categories we use

Every cookie on nalenorix.com falls into one of three groups. Nothing outside these groups is set by us.

Strictly necessary

Support core functionality: page navigation, security checks, and form submission on the contact page.

Session

Blocking it may stop forms and navigation from working correctly.

Analytics

Show which program pages and reviews are read, and where visitors run into problems, in aggregate form.

Up to 14 months

You can block these without losing access to any content.

Preference

Remember choices you make while using the site, such as a shortlist of programs you are comparing.

Up to 12 months

Safe to block; you will just need to re-enter your choices.

If you have limited your browser to block analytics or preference cookies, the site will still open and everything on it stays readable.

Why we use them

Analytics information shows which comparison and review pages are most useful and where content may need clarification. If one program page gets read far more than others, that tells us which Canadian certificates and microprograms learners want covered in more detail. If a lot of readers leave the skills section early, we know the wording there needs work.

Necessary cookies keep forms working and protect against misuse. They carry the session that stops a submitted contact form from being replayed, and they let the site recognize the same browser between pages so a request is not lost. Without them, parts of the site may not function as intended.

In practice

  • We count page reads in aggregate, not individual visitors.
  • We do not build profiles of people who read the site.
  • We do not use cookie data to set program prices or offers.
  • Switching everything off leaves the content fully readable.

Third-party cookies

Some features may rely on third-party services that set their own cookies — for example, a hosting or analytics provider that keeps the site running and reports traffic. Those providers are responsible for their own cookie practices, and we recommend reviewing their policies if you want the full picture.

We do not use third-party cookies to sell or share your personal information, and we do not allow third-party advertising trackers on nalenorix.com. If we ever add a service that sets new cookies, this page is updated before that service goes live.

Third-party cookies can be blocked without affecting the rest of the site. Several browsers now do this by default, which may mean a feature looks slightly different to you than it does to someone browsing with default settings.

Controlling cookies

You manage cookies through your own browser, not through an account on this site. There is no login here, and no setting we can flip on your behalf.

Block all cookies
Works in every major browser through the privacy or site-data settings. Content stays visible; forms and saved preferences may not.
Block third-party cookies only
Keeps first-party functionality intact while stopping cookies set by outside services. A good middle setting if you want forms to keep working.
Delete existing cookies
Clears anything already stored. Your browser will ask for consent again on your next visit where consent is required.
Use a private window
Private or incognito browsing drops most cookies when the window closes, which is a simple way to read the site without leaving anything behind.

Blocking necessary cookies may prevent forms and other features from working correctly. If you rely on the contact page, leave those enabled.

Consent and changes

Where required, we request consent before setting non-essential cookies. A consent banner appears on your first visit and records your choice so you are not asked again on every page. You can change that answer at any time by clearing the stored choice in your browser, or by using the cookie settings on this site.

We may update this policy when our practices change or when required by law. The current version is always published on this page, with the review date shown at the top. If a change affects what we store — or how long we keep it — we will say so plainly here rather than burying it in a revision note.
